An original rocking record. A little edgier perhaps than the superb Sounds & Signifiers, or Let the Good Times Roll.
I was lucky to see JD play live, one of the few (maybe the only?) bands playing this style needing repeat listening for the songs to reveal their real craftsmanship.
Great lyrics, great music... immediate enjoyment and prolonged satisfaction.

I'll be 100% honest. I really wanted to put the Let The Good Times Roll album on my list here. I played that album for almost 3 years at a brewery I managed/bartended at in Parker, CO. People of every age up to nearly 75 asked me what I was playing almost daily. Love this also.
Favorite track: BLOODHOUND ROCK.

Pulsating rockabilly album filled with earworms (must listen to 3. "Lucky Penny" and 2. "Crying's"). Driving beats in staccato to soft ballads with silky-smooth male vocals. Fresh rhymes and word-play reward close listening and set this album apart from mere revival rehashes. Band is super tight and production is excellent. Download this album and next you'll be renting a convertible to drive down Pacific Coast Highway to complete the listening experience.

Why Hell, I can sandwich these upagaina' couple, two, three Bobbie Gentry, Tony Joe White, and Jeannie C. Riley singles and nobody'd be the wiser that I wasn't spinning some rare single... Shimp

Jason Isbell is a master storyteller, and his music gives it so much more room to shine. Every song is so lovingly produced with amazing lyrics to make them stand out even more. RabidRabbit
